New Music Tuesday
Yea it’s finally here!! New Music Tuesday where yours truly reviews some of the hottest music out there…and some other stuff which I either stumbed on or was sent to me. Never the less its been a long time in the making. So here’s how it works: I review the album and/or track on a star system in 4 categories (4 is the highest). I review each category, tally up the score and give a little synopsis Got it?
Good.
Now here are the 4 categories:
- Lyrics - Does the artist say something profound in the music or are they just giving you instructions on how to do their dance?
- Beats - Is it something I can move to? Or would it be better if I just listened to the words and try to tune out the instrumental
- CRP - Car Rockin Potential. Do I wanna roll the windows down or would it be better if I listened through some headphones so no one can tell what I’m listening to?
- Stickiness - OMG this song won’t get out of my head…good thing or bad?
On to the Reviews
First to be reviewed for new music tuesday is LX, a dude from DC. Now I’ve known this dude for awhile and he usually been more of a rock/rapper. So this song is a bit of a diversion for him. The song is called Koolaid and its about…what else?!? Koolaid. Lets see if the timeless hood drink translate into a pop hit.

I can see what LX was trying to do here and create a pop song to get some airplay. I can’t fault him in this. But the truth of the matter is, I don’t think it worked as well as he hoped. Maybe he can do a remix and lighten up the beat a little. Pop songs can’t have dark beats. You should feel happy and put in a good mood when you hear it. The happy lyrics don’t seem to be meshing with that darker beat. Less bass, more treble and you have yourself a hit.
