Has the art of the remix been lost?

I remember back in the day when an artist made a remix is going to be something different. Something out of the ordinary. Have musical artist just become entirely to lazy to be creative anymore? I was listening to the radio the other day and Kiss Kiss came on the radio…but instead of T-pain I hear Nelly. Nothing else was different. No mention that Nelly was even in the blasted song. Did he just get one of his boys to digitally encode him in the song like putting Forrest Gump at the White House?!?
When an artist comes out with a remix…I want something remastered. I want something different than the original. At the very least give me different lyrics so I know that I’m listening to a remix…this is why videos don’t get played on MTV anymore…people just lazy.
Bellow are some good and bad examples of remixes:
Bad
- Kiss Kiss “Remix” : Chris Brown ft Nelly (and supposedly T-Pain)
Good
- Shawty is the Shit : The Dream ft R Kelly
Bad
- Applogize : Timbaland ft OneRepublic (yes this is a remix)
* = That group is so hood that they even made a remix video. Now that’s putting effort into your work…
In other cool video/hood news…Kanye West has a video out for Good Morning which is the intro from Graduation. Now this is a true bootleg. You even get the obligatory arm in the first few seconds of the video. But it looks well put together and it uses the cover art from the album for the video. Creativity…that’s what I’m talking about…
