Black Friday is a Bust
Post Orginally Intended for Friday…but seeing how I had to be at work before 6 and I worked 12 hours, I’m just recovering now
I’m not a fan of the massive sales after Thanksgiving (collectively known as Black Friday). I’m also not a fan of waking up before the sun even thinks about rising.
it just doesn’t make any sense to me anymore. i understand the historical aspect of black friday…but its just not the same anymore. the deals aren’t as good. i remember when black friday sales included things that were new and people wanted to buy.
now people are picking up Black Friday items just because thru are on sale! Seriously, how many people need 4 Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners?
Just because a tv, printer, and/or laptop is on sale does not make it a good deal. Come on people we need to think a little smarter and not have these companies fool us just because they take 46% off a camera (after they mark it up 22%) or just because they’ll open their doors at 12:01 am on Black Friday that we’re going to get some good deals…
And before I go let me have my rant on cell phone companies:
As you may or may not know I work for one of the big 4 cell phone carriers in North America. When you buy a cell phone with a carrier you are getting it at a discounted price with an agreement that you will have service with that company for a certain length of time (whether it be 1 or 2 years). But here’s where the problem lies…when a sale such as Black Friday comes around people expect to walk in and buy phones the same way you would buy a television. It doesn’t work like that. People don’t sign agreements to keep their television for a certain amount of time.
Americans need to understand the system of which they are a part of. Cell phones are big business…look at how many people have them…and continue to buy new ones. You can’t just go over seas and buy a nice phone (like 1.3< megapixel camera, mp3 player, expandable memory, and such) for $50 like you can in America. Of course you’re also not locked into a contract either…so it’s a matter of preference. Ignorance is a pet peeve of mine…
