For the past few years, I’ve spent the holiday season in retail. If you’ve ever gone close to any retail store from Black Friday to Christmas Eve then you’ll understand how busy it. I had almost gotten used to the extended holidays hours and the busier stores…but this year was different.

Why?

Because this year I had a fiancee. Yes, that rock that I put on her finger made me want to skip pay just to be with her. The holiday season isn’t about the gifts you get, how much money you spent, or even the gifts you give. No, the holiday season is about family. All of that superficial stuff is irrelevant without someone to share it with. You could be given everything under the Sun…but if you don’t have somebody to share the excitement of it, then all would be meaningless.

So this holiday season was difficult for me. With the exception of last night I only really saw my fiancee when I was getting off work and headed to bed and also in those brief momments that I was awake before she went into work.

But in the morning…its Christmas…so Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight…
