The Moment of Truth
I did something yesterday that I promised myself I wouldn’t do. I watched the Moment of Truth…and now I think and pose the question, “how much further down can we go?!?”
Last night was the premier of Fox’s new reality game show, “The Moment of Truth”. I had told myself I wasn’t going to watch the show as soon as I saw the commercial. I didn’t want to be a part of people distemperring their lives and embarrassing themselves on network tv for money. Then I was reading the paper and saw an article about the show. After reading it…and google the show in other countries I definitely wanted to keep my distance. Alas my moment of truth came at 9pm when the show aired and I could do little but sit down and watch the fireworks.
If you’ve never seen the show…I suggest you keep it that way. If you have seen the show stop feeding the nonsense. How much further can we slide down the level of what we find entertaining on tv. People have eaten bugs (Survivor), slept with rats (Fear Factor), gone on blind dates (Blind Date), dated old men (Flavor of Love 1 & 2) and looked like Jack asses (to many to count). What else will we do? Embarrassing ourselves on television by revealing our deepest secrets. Not I. Its a new low. Don’t get me wrong I will compete for money…I will showcase my intelligence…but we as a people must draw the line somewhere. We can’t leave it up to the media monsters to decide what entertains us. Please starve the nonsense…don’t feed it.
Post Script: But if you do decide to watch the show…don’t watch it with a significant other. Trust me…you don’t want to go through that. I received all types of calls and text messages from people who didn’t know any better. Now you do…and knowing is half the battle…
