The Michigan and Florida Problem
+
So I woke up this morning and followed my normal routine (turn off the alarm, turn on CNN, and lay in bed), this morning however I had to deal with the fact that the governors from Michigan and Florida want to have the votes from their primary counted. Now if you remember weeks back primarimes were held in both those states, but were not counted.
Why weren’t they counted the first time? Well they broke Democratic Primary rules by moving up their primary, with the prior knowledge that it was against the rules. I’m siding with the chair of the Democratic Nominating Committee, Howard Dean, when he says their time has passed. They knew the rules and they signed off on the rules. Those states broke the rules and should suffer the consequences,
CNN asked the question if the votes should be taken as is. Which I whole heartily detest…some of the candidates names weren’t even on the ballot. How is that even fair to the voters of those states.
I believe this a just a play by the Republican party (did I mention that the governors of Michigan and Florida are Republicans?) to choose Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee, since McCain and other Republicans know that’s an easier fight.
If anything the primary should be re-done but at the expense of the state. I mean they did break the rules…
