Politics, Obama, and Education in America
My writing isn’t pretty…much like my thoughts. Let me give a quick rundown on how I feel about the current state of the political process.
If you don’t know by now I’m a strong supporter of Barack Obama…now that doesn’t mean that I support everything he says. I don’t agree with all of his policies and rhetoric (I haven’t heard a politician yet without a little bit of rhetoric in them). But I feel that at least with Barack Obama we have a listening ear and he’ll be willing to work with the people on problems. I also feel he’s a President who is fully capable of ushering the United States into the new arena of global politics. The world isn’t the same place that it was a few years back, and America is only now beginning to realize the new stage of global politics and that we, as the United States of America, cannot act as the world’s police. It puts a strain on America that we are not yet ready to bear. America has to many ties to. the global world, hence our oil crisis/economy.
But let’s get back to the Presidential Race (even thou we still don’t “officially” know who is running for President of the United States, yet) and what the candidates are not doing. None…and I repeat none of the candidates are talking about The United States in definite terms. Listen our country is failing our children. American people are losing their homes, and those are two of the biggest part of the American Dream. Think about it…not even 200 years ago, people in this country were dying. Dying to get an education, let alone have a place and land to call their own. What people were dying to achieve we are throwing away now. And what makes matters worse is that the people who are trying to take charge of the most powerful country in the world are not even addressing it. Especially the matter of education. I don’t want a rhetorical speech about the very real problem that we are facing in the American educational system. We are failing our students and the saddest part is…the students don’t know that they are not even receiving a level of education that they can use to compete on a global scale. With the way we are watering down and force feeding our students, there is no way that America will be able to stay as a global power. No student left behind is actually every student behind. Something needs to be done, and something needs to be done now…
