Michelle Obama is Obviously Running for President

Because that must be the only reason for the Republican Party to be attacking her like they are. The story is actually starting to get a lot of press. So much press that Obama had made this comment:
“The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record,” Obama said. “If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.”[1]
Michelle Obama is not running for office. Yes she is married to someone who is running but that doesn’t make her guilty by association. Asking her political questions is along the same lines as asking the significant other of a CEO of a major corporation about the goals and financial standings of the company. When Bill Gates was actively running Microsoft, I didn’t see anyone asking Melinda about she strongly felt that Microsoft can take the digital music scene away from Apple’s iPod.
I mean I might have missed it…but I really doubt that they asked her. Some people might consider that an unequal comparison. However its not. People want to know the inner thoughts and emotions of the wife of the person who may become the leader of the strongest country in the world. I can understand that. But at the same time…Microsoft is one of the biggest companies with market share all across the world. Microsoft isn’t in the private sector when it collects information and data from the public…the global public. Microsoft has a database of likes, dislikes, internet habits, shopping patterns, sercurity information, and locations of people who use their software all over the world. Microsoft has its own channel. Yet we know very little about Melinda Gates.
Sounds a little awkward doesn’t it?
Attacking the wife significant other of a Presidential canaidate is underhanded. Especially when said significant other has no involvement in politics except for voting and being married to someone who is involved in politics. My fiancee is a branch manager of a nationwide car rental agency…when people ask me questions about renting cars I direct them to her becasue I have very little knowledge of how the buisness works. True I may know a little bit more of how the office works, only becasue I’m around her and her co-workers, but that by no means makes me an expert. Can we expect anymore from the significant others of those who hold public office?
